A Small Introduction
I don't use my real name on the internet, so I'll start by saying that I am Gus. I don't use my real name on the internet not because I am worried about creeps coming and finding me or anything, but because my opinions have gotten me into some awkward places at work and I would rather avoid that. I am a Sergeant in the US Army. I wouldn't trade the time I have spent in the service, including the year downrange, for anything in the world, but I am eagerly anticipating returning to a civilian life in about a year and a half. I am married to a beautiful woman who has given me three amazing children. I have a wonderful dog, and some of the best friends a man could ask for.
I'll be using the blog as a sounding board for whatever pops into my head. Some days it will be my frustrations at work. Some it will be about my political views and the things happening in our world. Some will be about fatherhood, and some will be about video games. I have many strong opinions, and I am always willing to discuss things with those who agree or disagree. I do not have a problem with people who disagree with me, but those who disagree through ignorance frustrate me and I will do my best to enlighten any who are willing to hear me out.
Some other things that I like to point out because it's fun to think about myself sometimes. I love video games, football, beer, bacon, comedy, Manchester United, Star Trek, Star Wars, DragonLance, Sparticus, Game of Thrones (the TV series only because I haven't gotten around to the books yet), House, grilling, shooting, and running my mouth. Some have described me as a narcissist, but I'm really not. I am an atheist, but I'm not bitter about it any more. I hate 2 party politics, even though I know it is the only real way to get things done. I have never voted even though I have strong opinions. I was going to this year, but didn't find a candidate I liked until I had missed registration. I used to play guitar but I haven't picked it up in almost a year. I love to read.
A post of substance about a topic of interest will be coming in the next few days, but I thought I'd start with an introduction.
